Michael McKaigg
Trombone Instructor

Michael is a Bay Area native with over 20 years of experience on trombone and electric bass. He is the principal trombonist of the renowned Concord California Band of the Salvation Army. He also currently plays bass with the rock instrumental group “LoNero”, cover band “Meritage," pop singer “Tara Vel,” and recording with “Death of the Author Brigade."

Michael has had the opportunity to play in many parts of the world including Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Ireland, England, and Scotland. He has shared the stage with such notable artists as Leslie Uggams, Eddie Palmieri, Herman’s Hermits, Matt Catingub GiGi Gonaway (Mariah Carey, Eric Martin) Mic Gillette (Tower of Power), and Gary Hoey. In addition, Michael has studied with such great local musicians as Frank Sumares, Cindy Browne, Kurt Patzner, John Gove, and Tim Devine.

Michael spent seven years as a volunteer instructor at the Salvation Army music camp in Scott’s Valley, California. There he was a band director, bassist for vocal groups, and head of music theory instruction. He is also a member of Washburn’s “emerging artists” and the “Friends of Peavey”.
