Private Lessons
We believe that private instruction is the best way for anyone to learn how to play an instrument or to sing correctly. The one-on-one instruction means that students are given instruction that best suits how they as an individual learn. Private lessons also mean that they are able to learn the type of music they personally are most interested in. Also, with private lessons a teacher can focus 100% of their attention on that one student to ensure that things such as hand positioning, posture or understanding of a particular concept are correct. This means faster progress.
You're welcome to start your private classes any time of the year or month so there's no need to wait to get started. We offer 30 minute, 45 minute and 1 hour lessons. Our music teachers have university training in the instruments that they teach. We teach students from beginners to very advanced. A variety of styles are taught such as pop, jazz, rock and classical. Contact the school office to see which times and days are available. If you don't see your instrument listed, please let us know as we're always updating our services.

Children's Show Choir (ages 5-8)
In this group class, your child will sing the latest songs and incorporate fun dance moves, learn notes via boom whackers, and enjoy lots of rhythm studies via tap dancing. Your child will also learn how to read real chorus music in two and three part harmony. This class performs in various local street and park festivals as well as the Fall Recital, showcasing all that your child has learned in this class. We are highly motivated in preserving this class and in keeping our young people busy with positive, supervised musical interests.
Mondays from 3:45 - 4:45pm

Pre-Teen Show Choir (ages 9-12)
Similar to Children's Show Choir but with music more interesting to this age group. Miss Kathy is quite anxious to keep this class "growing up" together so she can start a Teen Show Choir and do more complex shows such as one hour musicals that involve acting as well as singing and dancing.

Rock Band Workshop
Once a month, all intermediate level students have the opportunity to participate in an open 3 hour rehearsal under the supervision of one of our adult instructors. The purpose of this workshop is to expose the students to a variety of music that will extend beyond what they can possibly learn in their private lesson.
Here's how it works:
At the beginning of the month 5 songs are selected for downloading onto iPods or burning onto a CD. The students individually work on the songs at home for the month. On the last Saturday there is an open rehearsal, and those who have learned at least 3 of the songs can participate in this extremely fun activity. Each month carries a different theme; 70's rock, 90's rock, R&B, 50's Do-Wop, Just the Beatles, etc.
Since this workshop is an elective, there is an extra fee of $30 for each 3 hour session...about the same you would spend to send your kid to the movie show, give him/her money for popcorn and soda, and ice cream after...only MUCH MORE valuable (in our opinion).

R&B/Pop Coaching
If you are interested in working as a small group of 3 or 4 to learn how to sing backup harmonies and tighten up your sound, this class focuses on pitch training for acapella singing, how to hear the intervals in a chord and reproduce them vocally, as well as how to listen for a blend while you are singing.
Schedule for class varies according to the group involved and the coach |

Preschool Ballet & Tap (ages 3-5)
This class is an introduction to dance where children will learn the basics of ballet and tap. The primary goal is to foster a love of movement in each child. Several fun and creative activities happen in each class. For example, a scarf dance at the end can facilitate the dancer's own physical expression. Taking part in dancing out a narrative helps children to understand that dancing is a means of communicating feelings and actions. The vocabularies covered are all steps which a 3 year old can master and will build self-confidence. The vocabulary is also set up to prepare students for future training in ballet, tap, or jazz.
Saturdays from 10:00 - 10:45am |
